I've mentioned the importance of finding cross-promotional opportunities between traditional and social media, integrating the two and illustrating how the two work together, to win allies in the newsroom.
Here's my latest: WRAL TV is producing a series called "Bad Dog" which corresponds with CBS's new series "The Great American Dog Challenge"
To promote this segment, I created a
Bad Dog GOLO Group informing users about the segment and letting them know that they can come back to this group after every segment to discuss the series and even provided a link for them to submit their own pets for consideration. Users have already started commenting and I plan to link to the slideshow that displays all of the entries.
Our promotions department is pleased about this new promotional tool and the opportunity for both feedback and an online following. I am hoping for major success. We'll see, and I will most definitely report back.
